This is a new section to our website. There's no denying that we're all getting older and with that comes the inevitable infirmities. If you or a fellow classmate are facing a health challenge (physical or mental) and could use a little "Fine59" cheer, please let us know at webmeister@fine59.com - as is often said, "were all in this together!"
Marvin Kunkel - Please keep our classmate Marvin in your thoughts and prayers as he copes with a challenging illness. Likewise, keep his wife Peggy and his family in your thoughts and prayers as well. We all know how pervasive an illness can be on a family as a whole.
If you know Marvin, you probably remember that the Kunkel family was a pioneering family to the Spring Branch area. Other branches of the family were the O'Rourks and the Warwicks - remember Martha Warwick - class of '60. Marvin's father had an automotive repair shop on Katy Rd. called Kunkel Automotive - right next to Gorman's Cleaners, I believe. That was downtown Spring Branch right - wasn't it neat when you think about it! The O'Rourks had a Sinclair Service Station on Campbell Rd. just south of Long Point - really nice folks.
Marvin is a neighbor of mine here in Tower Oaks Plaza - in Cypress. Before I began having knee problems, I used to walk frequently in our quaint subdivision. I would often see Marvin working in his yard - it always looked great. Marvin has a red Corvette that also got a lot of his attention too. So anyway, don't forget a really nice guy; send him an e-mail of encouragement now and then; I'm sure he'd welcome that.
Warmest Regards,
Larry D.
(Note: To send an e-mail to Marvin, go to the "Class Members" page, select him from the list, then click-on his "Send an e-mail" link.")
